Summer - 1913
Freight team headed for Southern Pacific Railroad at Glamis, California.

DIRT ROAD
Grover Carlyle Rains hauled freight from Glamis to Blythe.
55miles - week to 10 days round trip.

Well some way I lived through the loneliness and fear on the homestead, as I was alone so much of the time.

Hauled all drinking water 9 miles from town. Was 2 miles to a neighbor.
